In this video, Chris highlights the advantages of having an onboard O-ring splicing kit, also known a toric joint or packing. O-rings are used throughout a boat to create water tight gaskets where needed. They can be found on engines, toilets and throughout plumbing in general. O-rings can be bought cheaply but this all depends on their local availability. This kit cuts out the need for a visit to your local hardware store or chandlery, making you more self-sufficient in the long run!
I havn’t used one of these kits for years but they are ok. However I would say not for a permanent replacement. The adhesive at the joint hardens the rubber and can be prone to seeping.
