I want to reseal the cabin windows on my Moody 31 Mk II which are leaking. I plan to remove the self-tapping stainless steel screws which bed into the boat’s aluminium frame, apply new sealant then re-use the screws to hold the windows in place. I will apply an anti-corrosion paste.

How do I ensure that the re-used screws will bite into the old holes? Should I use a packing material, if so what do you recommend?

Note: The windows are within an outer aluminium frame and screwed into to the boat’s inner aluminium frame by stainless steel self tapping screws with a sealant.
